APPLE BREAD
1/2 C. shortening 1 tsp. soda 1 C. sugar 1 tsp baking powder 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 2 C. all-purpose flour 2 T. sour milk or buttermilk 1 tsp. salt 2 C. peeled and diced apples Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat well. Combine flour, salt, soda and baking powder. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture, blending well. Stir in vanilla, milk and apples. Spoon batter into a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
